One of the most discussed topic of the time in management is Logistic and supply chain management. It is not just related to Delivering products to one place, but also includes delivering services from one place to another place. Public transportation is another area which is being critically discussed at the time. It is true that transportation industry is one of the main pillar of any economy. For an economy to grow far having a dynamic transport infrastructure is very much important when we discuss about the importance oftransportation, we also have to discuss the impact of The development of that industry to the environment and society.
As of now, we are using different fuels which are traditionally fossil fuels for the transportation industry and one of the component which is regarded as very dangerous for the environment is it CO2 emission. Numerous efforts have been taken by countries across the globe to produce the carbon animation to the environment by the transportation industry by using alternate and renewable fuels.
Electronic vehicles, which were there for a long time, have been used by the industry heavily during the last five years to address the environmental concerns caused by it. Majority of the countries across the law already started embracing electricity as a fuel and the future is bright. Most of the countries target to 0 emissions by 2060 to 2070. When we refer Indian electric vehicles market, it is growing by year and supposed to reach 38 billion by 2028.
Hydrogen is another fuel which is used by transporters as an alternative for traditional fuels, but the adaptation and implementation is very slow. When it is positively adapted by markets, it can definitely increase the efficiency of the fuel and decrease. The environmental impacts. Reality is the scientific development ofthis fuel is in the beginning stage and we may need little more time to completely understand and implement hydrogen as an alternate fuel.
If we take our discussion back to the environmental impact of CO2 emissions, the transporters are the sector which is contributing heavily. This sector contributes about 23% of total CO2 emissions globally and it's growing further. Even if we agree that transportation industry is the backbone of every economies growth, we cannot underestimate the impact is creating on greenhouse gas emissions and pollution.
It is worth noting that the road transport industry is one of the largest contributor for the pollution, not just in India, but across the globe. Aviation sector and shipping sector is already desired to reduce their CO2 emissions and become carbon neutral by 2050. Song the target of every government across the globe Is to shift the road transport to Greener modes like Railways, Etc and also motivate the sector to use carbon neutral fuels. At this point, it is worth to note that Indian railway already declared their target to become carbon neutral by 2030.
Following points are worth to note In the effort of India's green transport
1. Converting public transportation system like buses to electric buses is one of the step taken by the government and by 2024 December around 9700 buses around the road which are using electric energy. The recently launched Prime Minister E bus Seva scheme is going to be implemented in 14 states.
2. Motivating private sector Transport owners to embrace Electric energy as their energy is another area where the government is putting their focus.
3. Electric vehicle manufacturing industries are growing Fast across India, and most of the Auto manufacturers have their own electric vehicle manufacturing facilities in India. Technology is fine. Tuned with dynamic manufacturing facilities and improved expertise. Government believes that private vehicle owners embrace electric vehicles are the earliest.
4. Improving charging infrastructure is another area of focus with a target of one charging station for every 40 electric vehicles ensure seamless charging and wireless driving with Prime Minister E Dr and state level incentives. India's electronic vehicle charging infrastructure, May fitness rapid expansion.
5. So we can conclude that the shift from traditional fossil fuel energy dependent transportation sector to alternate or electric energy sector is going to help society as well the environment. In this area India is catching up with every developed a country in a fast pace poised to become a global change maker.
