There is an announcement from ICSI ( Institute of Company Secretaries of India) with regard to modifications in Company secretary course syllabus. You may be wondering why I am not using exclamatory sentences, the changes may reduce number of chapters or topics across subjects, it may also result in increase of topics and chapters in some other papers. So let us try to understand what these changes really mean.

CSEET
Let us start from CS Executive entrance test examination. The remarkable changes the adding up of one chapter in legal latitude and logical that is sale of goods act. This will add more content to already rich syllabus.
Impact
This addition may increase the topics in legal aptitude paper which contains, Indian Constitution, Law of Torts, Contract act, Company Law and Company Secretary legislation, that too for 25 marks.

As you aware Executive programme have two modules containing 7 Papers, which are
Group I
1. JIGL - Jurisprudence, Interpretation and General Law
2. CLP - Company Law and Practice
3. SBIIL - Setting Up of Business , Industrial and labour law
4. CAFM - Corporate accounting and Financial Management
Group II
5. CMSL - Capital Market and Security Law
6. ECIPL - Economical, Commercial and Intellectual Property Law
7. TL - Tax laws
There are changes effected by latest notification by the Institute.
Changes
Paper 1, JIGL - JIGL syllabus changes
l Law relating to Specific Relief Act (Chapter removed from CSExe and moved to professional - Paper Drafting
l Stamp Act (Chapter removed and moved to Professional paper Drafting)
l Registration Act (Which includes TOPA not need for executive moved to professional paper Drafting)
l Sales of Goods Act (Chapter removed and moved to Cseet)
l Arbritration (Some topics removed :- Power of High Court to make rules and Mediation rules made by Higher Courts) Moved into Professional elective paper Arbitration
l Constitution (Some points removed :-Finance Bill and Other Bills l Parliamentary Standing Committees and their Role)
Impact of JIGL Syllabus changes
The changes will reduce the load of these paper and increase focus on existing paper.
Paper 2 Company Law and Practice - Company law syllabus changes
Lesson no 10 - Oppression and Mismanagement and class action suits are removed from executive and moved to professional drafting paper
Lesson 12- Inspection, Inquiry and Investigation - removed from executive and move to Professional Compliance paper
Lesson 17- deleted but added to lesson 18, but topics CSR expenditure, ongoing project and impact assessment to Professional Paper ESG

No serious impact on these changes as these were not scoring points.

Paper 5 CMSL
No changes in this paper
Paper 6 ECIPL - Economic law syllabus changes
Changes
Lesson no 4- ECB removed from Executive and moved to Professional programme Strategic Management paper.
Lesson No 9, 10 - removed from Executive and move to ESG paper in professional programme. Brief of these chapter are in Lesson 8 ECIPL
Impact of these changes:
No serious impact as these are minor chapters or topics.
